In the new Tech draw of the Ontario PNP, a total of 668 immigration applicants were invited. With this draw, the Ontario PNP draw has touched the mark of 9000 invitations in the year 2020.
This Ontario Tech Draw took place on the day of 15 December 2020. 668 Express Entry candidates were sent invitations to apply under the provincial nominee program.
Applicants are issued a targeted Notification of Interest (NOIs) in the Ontario Immigrants Nominee Program (OINP) who has the caliber to qualify the Express Entry Human Capital Priorities (HCP) stream. The only thing necessary for the candidate to receive an invitation was that they must have a profile in the Express Entry system.
A total of 668 principal candidates received the Notification of Interest (NOI) from the Tech Draw. The Comprehensive Ranking System (CRS) score needed to get an invitation was ranging from 460 to 468. There was no need for a job offer in hand to get the invitation but a working experience of at least one year in one of the below occupations:
- NOC 2147 Computer engineers
- NOC 2175 Web designers and developers
- NOC 2173 Software engineers and designers
- NOC 2172 Database analysts and data administrators
- NOC 0213 Computer and information systems managers
- NOC 2174 Computer programmer and interactive media developers
Once the applicant received the NOI from the Ontario province, they then have 45 calendar days to submit the application to the Ontario province for getting a nomination.
After the application filing and getting the nomination from Ontario province, the applicant’s profile is awarded an additional 600 CRS points in the Express Entry program. Getting these points improves the overall CRS score which will ultimately help the applicant in getting an Invitation to Apply (ITA) to apply for a Permanent Residency (PR) visa in the upcoming Express Entry draw. This is actually applicable to anyone applying under the Provincial Nominee Program (PNPs) in Canada.
This Tech draw marks the fifth draw of Ontario this year. The draw held on July 29, 2020, 1288 invitations were sent to the Express Entry candidates and was the biggest draw of the year 2020.
Up till now, Ontario has given away 9082 invitations in the Human Capital Priorities Stream, French Skilled Worker stream, and the Skilled Trades stream.
Ontario Tech Draw: How to get invited?
The first and foremost is becoming eligible for an invitation from the Ontario Immigrant Nominee Program (OINP). The other step is creating an Express Entry profile for the Tech draw.
Express Entry is a federal application management system comprising mainly three economic classes. These classes are:
- Federal Skilled Worker Program
- Federal Skilled Trades Program
- Canadian Experience Class
The Human Capital Priority stream of Ontario picks candidates from the Federal Skilled Worker Program and the Candian Experience Class.
The applicants are then given a CRS score for their profiles based on factors like age, educational qualification, language proficiency, and working experience.
The candidates in the Express Entry pool are pulled by the OINP Tech draw based on the above-mentioned factors. After this, the invited candidates can apply for the provincial nomination in Ontario.
Although applying for a provincial nomination is entirely different from that of Canada Immigration. Once the applicant gets a successful nomination from the Ontario province, the nomination can then be used to apply for a permanent residency through the Federal government.
After the approval from the Canadian government, the applicant can then settle in Ontario as a permanent resident as well and pursue their technological career.
