Applicants in the Express Entry pool who received a provincial nomination were given invitations to apply for Permanent Residency (PR) visa.
A total of 671 candidates were invited to submit their application for permanent residency on March 8, 2020.
Immigration, Refugee, and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) made the cutoff CRS score to be 739 and above. This means that applicant’s profiles with the CRS score of 739 and above were chosen to sent invitations. Although the CRS score requirement might seem a little bit on the higher side the candidate with a provincial nomination automatically gets 600 additional points on their express entry profile.
After taking into consideration the additional 600 points, the minimum CRS (Comprehensive Ranking System) score requirement then would only be 139 only.
Provinces in Canada support the Express Entry applications with the added benefit that the applicant will be invited to apply for a Permanent Residency (PR) visa.
The tie-breaker rule was also deployed in this draw. The tie-breaker involved in this draw was that all the Express Entry profiles that were submitted before February 16, 2021, at 19:10:25 UTC, will be selected for permanent residency.
Until now, the Canadian Immigration department has issued a total of 38,657 ITAs (Invitation to Apply). This number of invitations is three times more than the number of ITAs that Canada issued last year. As we all know that due to this pandemic, Canada was not able to fulfill its set requirement for the previous year. This is the reason now that IRCC has now set a much higher and ambitious target for the year 2021 with an aim of welcoming more than 401,000 newcomers. Most of these new immigrants will be allocated through the Express Entry programs.
The majority of these invitations came when IRCC issued around 27,332 in the draw that was held on Saturday, February 13, 2021. That draw was one of the biggest draw ever held in the history of Express Entry. The minimum CRS score was also historically low with a CRS score of 75.
It is actually unusual to see that the draws are happening in the duration of two weeks apart. This draw held after the period of 22 days after the Saturday draw. This is the draw in which all the CEC candidates are invited to apply for a permanent residency.
