Three direct flights from India will arrive in Canada on September 22nd.
Canada will lift the ban on direct flights to India next week.
Indian air passengers will be able to come to Canada again from midnight on September 27, according to the press release. Passengers must continue to comply with public health measures, such as testing requirements and possibly quarantine.
There are still additional measures for tourists arriving directly in India:
- Travelers must obtain a negative COVID-19 molecular test report from an approved Genestrings Laboratory at Delhi Airport within the period of 18 hours from a direct flight to Canada.
- Before boarding a flight, airlines check passengers’ test results to make sure they are eligible to come to Canada and that fully vaccinated passengers have uploaded their information to the ArriveCAN mobile app or website. Passengers who are unable to meet these requirements will be denied boarding.
On September 22, India will have three direct flights to Canada. All passengers on these flights will be tested on arrival for the COVID-19 virus to ensure that the new measures work.
In addition, after continuing direct flights, Indian passengers taking the indirect route will still need a negative COVID-19 molecular test within 72 hours before departure before they can continue their journey to Canada.
Canada initially suspended direct passenger and commercial flights between India in April, while many coronaviruses were detected in both countries. Since then, only cargo operations, medical transfers, or military flights have been allowed to pass directly between the two countries.
Canada also has a ban on direct flights with Morocco, which runs until September 29th.
Things to know before planning to move to Canada
Canada opened its borders to fully vaccinated tourists from all countries on September 7th. If the candidate needs to be released from quarantine, they must provide border security officers with a negative COVID-19 test report and proof of vaccination document with an approved vaccine. In Canada. Passengers also need a 14-day quarantine plan.
All passengers arriving in Canada must use the ArriveCAN mobile or app to send their personal and travel information. When they arrive at the border, they may not have any symptoms of the virus and may have a negative COVID-19 test. If they want to be released from quarantine or travel to Canada for a non-essential reason, they must prove that they have been fully vaccinated with a vaccine approved by Canada, such as Astra Zeneca, Pfizer, Moderna, or Janssen (Johnston & Johnson).
Irrespective of the country of origin, new entrants must show a negative pre-arrival COVID-19 molecular test result, even if they are fully vaccinated. Passengers may also be randomly selected to perform the COVID-19 test upon arrival.
Candidates who are not considered fully vaccinated by the Canadian Immigration Authorities are only allowed to come to Canada for essential reasons like work, family reunion, school, compassionate reasons, or immigration. Canadian citizens and permanent residents, as well as their families who are not fully vaccinated, will still be allowed to enter the country, but they may be quarantined at home.
Unvaccinated individuals under the age of 12 may enter Canada without quarantine if their parents or guardians are fully vaccinated and are with them.
Foreigners who have not been vaccinated are not allowed to come to Canada. Persons arriving in Canada are temporary workers, international students, diplomats, and others who travel for a substantial reason. These individuals must be quarantined for 14 days upon arrival if they have not been fully vaccinated.
