Ontario Immigrant Nominee Program

A new PNP draw was held by Ontario for inviting Express Entry applicants in the first Tech draw of 2021.

The applicant invited must be working experience in any of the six tech occupations.

On February 16, 2021, Ontario invited 1186 applicants with working experience in the Tech sector to apply for a provincial nomination.

The Ontario Immigrant Nominee Program (OINP) made an invitation to Express Entry applicants with a Comprehensive Ranking System (CRS) scores between 453 and 467. The applicants invited were eligible under the Human Capital Priorities Stream of OINP.

There is one more requirement for getting an invitation in this stream is that the applicant must be eligible to show their working experience in one of the targeted occupations in order to get Provincial Nominee Program (PNP) nomination. The occupations that are included in this stream are given below:

  1. Computer engineers (NOC 2147)

  2. Computer & information systems managers (NOC 0213)

  3. Software engineers & designers (NOC 2173)

  4. Computer programmer & interactive media developers (NOC 2174)

  5. Web designers & developers (NOC 2175)

  6. Database analysts & data administrators (NOC 2172)

The applicants invited have a time span of 45 calendar days to file the application for PNP.

After receiving the nomination from Ontario province, the applicant automatically gets eligible for an additional 600 CRS points. These additional points add an unsaid benefit to their overall profile. This boost in the CRS score will definitely guarantee an Invitation to Apply (ITA) for a Permanent Residency (PR) visa in Canada. In fact, this is applicable to anyone with a provincial nomination in hand.

This Tech draw is Ontario’s first draw of the year 2021. In the previous Human Priorities draw, Ontario invited Express Entry applicants in the targeted occupations of health, finance, and other occupations. Ontario invited around 6716 Express Entry applicants through the Human Capital Priorities Stream for a provincial nomination in the year 2020. With these invitations, the year 2020 became the largest Express Entry linked PNP nominations issued by the province of Ontario.

Getting an Invitation as Tech Professional from Ontario:

The first step of the process is creating an Express Entry profile.

Express Entry is an immigration program that basically manages three Federal Economic classes. These classes are given below:

  1. Federal Skilled Worker Program

  2. Federal Skilled Trades Program

  3. Canadian Experience Class (CEC)

Candidates in the Express Entry program are evaluated based on the Comprehensive Ranking System (CRS). The CRS score uses factors like education, working experience, age, and language proficiency in French or English.

Candidates in the Express Entry pool are pulled out by OINP Tech draw who have working experience in the Tech sector for a provincial nomination.

Well applying for a provincial nomination is actually not the same as applying for Canadian Immigration. If the applicant is successful in getting a nomination from Ontario, the acquired nomination can then be used to apply for permanent residency from the Federal government.

Once the Federal government approves the application, the candidate will then have the opportunity to settle and work in Ontario.
