Express Entry PNP Draw: 654 Applicants Invited

The applicants who had received the provincial nomination were given the Invitation to Apply (ITA) in the new Express Entry draw.

A total of 654 Express Entry candidates were invited in the draw held on 10th February 2021.

The minimum CRS score required for getting an invitation was 720 as declared by IRCC.

In the draw, the candidates who had already received a nomination from one of the provinces were the only ones to be invited. This is the reason for the CRS score to be much higher than regular draws. Upon receiving the nomination, 600 points are added to the candidate’s Express Entry profile.

In comparison, this draw actually had 21 points lower requirement than the previous draw that was held on the date of January 20, 2021.

Express Entry is an application management system that mainly works on three federal immigration programs. These programs are listed below:

  1. Federal Skilled Worker Program

  2. Federal Skilled Trades Program

  3. Canadian Experience Class

Applicants in these programs are evaluated based on CRS scores. The CRS score uses factors like age, education, working experience, and language proficiency.

The points are awarded on an individual or couple basis. There is actually no need for applicants to have an experience in Canada in order to be invited. There is also no need for a job offer letter as well but it will certainly get the applicant some extra points.

An applicant with the highest score in the Express Entry draw receives an Invitation to Apply (ITA) in order to apply for a permanent residency visa. After the application submission, IRCC is the one who makes the final decision and sends the applicant a Confirmation of Permanent Residency (CoPR). The last step after the CoPR is settling and applying for a PR card. At this stage, the applicant has actually migrated to Canada and can eventually apply for citizenship.

In case there is a tie between applicants, IRCC uses the tie-breaker rule. In this case, applicants with a CRS score of 720 or more must have submitted the Express Entry profile before the date of August 14, 2020, at 06:51:00 UTC in order to receive an invitation.

The year 2020 has been a record-breaking year even though the Coronavirus has made quite an impact on the immigration front. Till the end of the year 2020, Canada had issued around 108,350 invitations. As per the immigration department, Canada is planning to make this year even bigger.

IRCC has until now issued a total of 10,654 invitations by four program-specific draws marking the inception of 2021.

The year 2021 is going to much bigger than the year 2020 as IRCC has announced that they are going to boost the immigration targets to overcome the shortcomings of the year 2020. Also, IRCC is planning to focus on skilled professionals and workers due to the challenges faced by Coronavirus and travel restrictions.

There has no all program yet been held by IRCC for this year. As per the immigration department of Canada, it is expected that Canada is planning on welcoming around 401000 new immigrants for this year. Out of these allocated numbers, 108500 are planned to be welcomed through the Express Entry managed programs. However, this is predicted that these are going to be raised. It will be around 110500 for 2022 and 113750 for the year 2023.
