The trend of Canada's permanent stay among the people living abroad leaving India continues. This includes people living in the United States. In 2018, 39,500 Indian citizens secured permanent residency in Canada under the Express Entry Scheme . According to recently released data, in 2018 more than 92,000 people in Canada acquired permanent residency under the Express Entry Scheme. This number is 41% higher than the previous year.
In 2017, 65,500 people gained permanent residency in Canada in the same manner, of which 26,300 were from India only. Compared to 2017, 51% more Indians have acquired permanent residency in Canada. At the same time, China, which was second in 2017, reached number three in 2018. In 2018, only 5,800 Chinese people gained permanent residency in Canada. Nigeria is at number two in 2018.
Visa related process increased in America
Earlier, our associate newspaper Times of India covered how Indians living in the US have to face visa related problems. According to reports, many Indians are shifting from the US to Canada due to delay or denial of H-1B visas, green card backlog or non-receipt of H-1B visas to spouse. People living in India are also preferring Canada instead of America for jobs or permanent residence.
Let me tell you that recently Canada has changed the Global Talent Stream (GTS) from Pilot Scheme to a permanent scheme, due to which Canadian companies can bring immigrants to Canada in just two weeks. Due to this change, there is a possibility that the number of Indians for jobs in Canada may increase. The Times of India published on October 10 that most GTS employees can apply for local citizenship in the future.

worth noting that the express entry is a system through which the Canadian government manages the application for permanent residence of the skilled and qualified people. In this, an online profile of the applicant is created and they are placed in the entry pool based on their Comprehensive Ranking System (CRS) score. CRS looks at standards such as job offers, age, education, experience and proficiency in English and French. Those who cross the cut off mark are asked to apply for Canada Permanent Residency.
In 2018, a total of 41,675 Indians were sent an invitation to permanent residency, according to data from the Canadian Immigration Department.
